Our Story

Our future reflects our desire to evolve from a traditional law firm to a solution based, legal services partner who listens to, communicates with and provides real value and care to our clients.
Our Past:
Sean Peters established Peters Lawyers in Leumeah in 2001. Sean and his wife Nicole created a strong and well-respected brand through their tireless work ethic, legal acumen, warmth, generosity and compassion for their loyal clients.
After two decades of running the practice, and the birth of his first grandchild, Sean decided to take a step back.
On the 1st of March 2024, Lachlan Gelder became the new owner of Peters Lawyers and re-located to Picton.
With over 30 years’ experience in commercial & retail leasing, and property law, Lachlan has built a reputation for providing commercial, strategic and high-quality legal solutions.
His vast experience spans a range of industries, allowing him to guide clients through the intricacies of legal challenges with clarity, precision, and a clear focus on his clients’ actual needs.
Lachlan’s previous roles have been:
- Westfield Shopping Centre/Scentre Group – General Manager, Australia & New Zealand (13 years)
- Marsdens Law Group – Partner (17 years)
- Peters Lawyers – Principal (1 year)
- Gelder Peters Law – Principal & Director (from March 2025)
At the heart of Lachlan’s approach is a profound commitment to the client, the team, and the community. Lachlan firmly believes in the strength of long-term connected relationships – whether with clients, colleagues, or cross-industry associates within the broader community.
This sense of connection drives the firm’s philosophy of providing not only expert legal advice and high-quality legal solutions but also, deeper non-legal opportunities that provide real value beyond the traditional practice of Law.
Our Future:
Lachlan incorporated the firm in March 2025 and rebranded to Gelder Peters Law.
We do not wish to be a traditional vertical law firm (a firm that practices in every area of law).
We are very clear on our areas of expertise and the direction we are heading. This is our strength and where we can add optimum value to you as your trusted legal advisor.
Whilst we will continue to grow and evolve our services in these areas through technology, higher learning, and attracting the right people, we appreciate that you will need support outside of our core areas of expertise and specialization.
With this in mind, we have established a highly skilled and trusted community of legal and professional service providers (external to our firm) to vertically cater for all your legal, business, and personal needs.
